Safari Details
Comprising almost five percent of Tanzania’s land area, Tanzania’s national parks are one of the wonders of the world drawing hundreds of thousands of tourists annually.
Best known of the national parks are those in close proximity to the Kenyan border and known as the Northern Circuit: Arusha; Tarangire; Lake Manyara; Ngorongoro Crater;, and of course, the fabulous Serengetti, home of the Great Migration. These parks are the most accessible, have the most lodging options, and have the most activities other than going on safari. Tarangire has its boa boa trees. Lake Manyara is known for its hot springs and tree climbing lions. Ngorongoro Crater, part of the Serengetti, is a giant caldera from which the animals do not migrate and is the park with the greatest possibility of seeing rhinos. The Serengetti, of course, is the home of over a million wildebeest and zebras and the predators that feed on them. Personally, unless you love flamingos, I don’t think that there is enough unique about Arusha to warrant a visit.
Two aspects of traveling in Tanzania that our clients have remarked on are, first, the significant distances between the parks and the long tedious rides between them. For this reason, after your first drive to a park, which does give you an appreciation of the people and the countryside, we recommend flying between the parks. Yes, this is an extra expense, but EVERYONE says that flying is worth it. Secondly, the lodging and the food are really quite good.
Your experience begins with our US-based team who will send you a Blue Rhino Information Pack and talk through your plans, including your group, your needs, your budget for your Tanzania adventure.
